iPhone 5 News
If Apple gets their way, wiring up your music player to speakers may end up going the way of the Walkman.
Tech website Pocket-Lint has been told by accessory makers that Apple wants the next generation of docking stations to be wireless, rather than plugging an iPhone directly into a dock to play music.
Apple is telling manufacturers that the wireless method will ensure their docks are future-proofed against any future hardware changes.
Which is a topical subject with iPhone fans, many of whom were left angry after images allegedly showing the iPhone 5's new design leaked out, showing the traditional 30-pin dock connector - used for charging, syncing files and pumping audio to hi-fis - had been re-designed into a smaller shape.

This means all older accessories will be rendered redundant unless adapters are released to make them compatible again - which is likely to be an ungainly solution, and may be impossible for some docks.

September 21st? Rumours are suggesting an earlier than anticipated launch for Apple's iPhone 5
Pocket-Lint heard 'from several sources' that Apple has 'quietly been encouraging speaker manufacturers to ditch the docking part of a docking system altogether'.
Wireless music transfer may democratise the Apple peripheral market, meaning it won't matter what dock you are using or if you are using an iPod, iPhone or iPad.
